Pilates Apparatus
The Pilates apparatus — including the Reformer, Tower, and Wunda Chair — uses a system of springs and pulleys to support the body while building strength, improving flexibility, and enhancing joint stability. This balanced resistance allows muscles to both lengthen and strengthen in a controlled and effective way.
Each piece of apparatus can be adjusted to suit the individual, working with your body rather than against it. The springs provide feedback and support, helping you to find, engage, and develop your deep core muscles while encouraging efficient, well-aligned movement.
Because the apparatus offers greater support and adaptability, it can be adapted to support movement, strength, and confidence during rehabilitation, where appropriate.
Please note: Clinical Pilates is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment, and clients with medical conditions may be asked to obtain appropriate healthcare advice before commencing exercise.

Creative Pilates Matwork
Creative Pilates Matwork is designed to support better posture, increased strength, and improved flexibility. Using small props like Therabands, balls, magic circles, and foam rollers, classes feel fresh and engaging while staying safe, inclusive, and accessible for a wide range of abilities.

Sports Massage
Sports massage is a tailored, hands-on treatment designed to relieve muscular tension, support recovery, and improve mobility and ease of movement. It can benefit athletes and active individuals, as well as anyone experiencing muscular tightness, stiffness or fatigue caused by work, exercise or everyday life. Each treatment is adapted to your individual needs, areas of concern and preferred level of pressure. Depending on your needs, I may use techniques such as effleurage, kneading, wringing, compressions, skin rolling and targeted friction techniques. Gentle stretching and joint movements may also be incorporated to encourage relaxation and support mobility.
Benefits of Sports massage include:
Reduce muscular tension and stiffness
Support recovery following exercise or physical activity
Improve flexibility and range of movement
Encourage circulation within the treated tissues
Prepare the body for physical activity
Reduce feelings of muscular fatigue and soreness
Promote relaxation and overall well-being
Identify areas of tension or muscular imbalance before they become more problematic.
Treatments can be adapted for different purposes, including general maintenance, pre-event preparation and post-event recovery.
The pace, pressure and techniques used will vary depending on your goals and how your body feels on the day.
Why Pilates Principles Matter
-
Pilates is built on key principles: breath, control, concentration, precision, alignment, and flow
-
These principles encourage intentional, mindful movement rather than pushing or forcing the body
-
Movements are small, controlled, and purposeful, helping the body move more efficiently and safely
-
The focus on alignment and technique helps retrain healthy movement patterns
-
Pilates supports the body as a whole, rather than isolating one area or muscle group
How Pilates Can Support the Body During or Following an Injury
-
Encourages safe, supported movement when the body may feel vulnerable or restricted
-
Helps maintain strength and mobility in unaffected areas while protecting the injured site
-
Builds deep core stability, which supports joints, the spine, and overall posture
-
Improves body awareness, helping you recognise compensations and avoid overloading other areas
-
Enhances circulation and breath, which can support healing and recovery
-
Focuses on quality of movement rather than intensity, reducing the risk of re-injury
-
Can be adapted to suit your injury, pain levels, and stage of recovery
-
Supports confidence in movement, helping you trust your body again
Please Note: My Clinical Pilates sessions use Pilates principles, movement assessment and exercise adaptation to support strength, mobility and confident movement. They are not a substitute for physiotherapy or medical treatment.
The Bigger Picture
Pilates offers a supportive bridge between rest and a return to full activity, helping the body rebuild strength, mobility, and confidence at a sustainable pace. By focusing on quality of movement, alignment, and control, it supports long-term resilience rather than quick fixes. The principles and awareness developed through Pilates naturally carry into everyday life, encouraging more easeful movement, better posture, and a deeper connection to the body well beyond the studio.
